Brewster Finance Committee Votes 'NO' on Nauset Project

The Brewster Finance Committee voted to NOT RECOMMEND the proposed $132M expansion and renovation of Nauset High School, at its meeting on January 27th.

The vote was 5 to 3. The members and Chairman who voted in the majority said that the proposal was unfair to Nauset Regional taxpayers, because the surrounding school districts who send approximately 300 students to Nauset, would pay no construction cost.

"The Brewster Finance Committee represented taxpayers tonight, and voted 'no' on the Nauset expansion, during a sustained period of enrollment decline", said Helga Dyer from NRHS Taxpayers. "We ask voters to read the full Brewster Finance Committee report at
noto905.com that calculates the cost of school choice at $4.7M annually, and then vote 'no' March 30th, to trigger a school renovation proposal sized to our regional students."

The 4 regional towns of Brewster, Eastham, Orleans & Wellfleet are scheduled to vote March 30th, and determine the fate of the current  Nauset High School building project.
